Jordan Terry founded and leads the Farama Foundation, whose reinforcement learning infrastructure powers AI research at Amazon, Google/DeepMind, Meta, Microsoft, and every major AI research organization globally — with 250+ million installations to date. OpenAI transferred stewardship of OpenAI Gym — their first flagship project — to the Foundation. The Foundation also maintains the Arcade Learning Environment, the benchmark that led Google to acquire DeepMind.

She previously founded Swarm Labs, a venture-backed AI security company that developed a novel AI-assisted vulnerability search tool for deployed AI systems. The company was backed by technical leadership at OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and HuggingFace. Jordan Terry also led teams using deep learning for embedded systems in intelligence applications at two major multinational defense contractors.

Jordan Terry holds a bachelor's degree in physics and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. Her doctoral research developed a reinforcement learning interface that became industry standard and a new method for modeling behavior in chaotic and economic systems using AI. She was advised by Dr. Dan Lathrop, a physicist specializing in chaos theory, and Dr. John Dickerson, a computer scientist working in AI and computational economics.
